Modern Dance —— Ginny LO

Ginny Ching-Yin Lo was born in Hong Kong and understudied with the former Artistic Director, Chu Kai-Chun of Hong Kong Ballet Company.

In 1985, she moved to Chicago and continued to study with Madam Boitsov and joined the Boitsov Classical Ballet Company, later she danced as a member of Illinois Ballet Theater. Ginny danced as guest artist with the New York modern dance company H.T. Chen & Dancers – Chicago Cast, Chicago Culture Center, Chicago Dance Festival, Hong Kong Dance Festival, 21 A.D. Festival & Karitos national conference.

She had been nominated for “Chicago Dance Makers Lab Artist” and “Chicago Dance Achievement Awards” in 2003 and 2004. She founded the multi-media modern dance company, “Identically Dissimilar” in 2004.

Ginny holds a BA in dance from Columbia College and an MA in Communication and Culture from Trinity University. She has taught over 15 years in dance studios, high schools and college. She was the artistic director of Lombard Dance Center for 8 years, the faculty of Karitos Conference & guest artist.

Currently, she teaches in Tongji University Dance Education, Shanghai City Scholars       (International) and Shanghai Migrant Workers Performing Troupe. She is also the artistic director of SMW Performing Troupe and SCF Dance Team.
